Disability Pride Month
A month to celebrate the disability community, honor the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act, and promote disability culture, history, and identity. Disability Pride centers the idea that disability is a natural part of human diversity.
History
Disability Pride Month coincides with the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act, signed on July 26, 1990. The first Disability Pride Parade was held in Chicago in 2004. The movement has grown significantly, with parades and events in cities worldwide.
