A month celebrating people with Down syndrome and promoting inclusion. Down syndrome and autism co-occur more frequently than in the general population, and many families navigate both diagnoses.
History
Down Syndrome Awareness Month has been recognized in October since the 1980s. The National Down Syndrome Society and the National Down Syndrome Congress lead awareness efforts.
