World Mental Health Day
A global day for raising awareness of mental health issues. For the autism community, mental health is particularly relevant: anxiety, depression, OCD, and autistic burnout are significantly more common in autistic people than in the general population.
History
World Mental Health Day was established in 1992 by the World Federation for Mental Health. It is recognized by the World Health Organization and observed in more than 100 countries.
How to Participate
- →Learn about mental health conditions common in autistic people
- →Understand that autistic burnout is distinct from depression — and that both deserve care
- →Advocate for autism-informed mental health services in your area
- →Check in with autistic adults and teens in your life — masking is exhausting
- →Support access to mental health care for all members of the autism community
